The Legendary Powdery Snow Paradise

This blog entry could been a lot happier if I were to blog it there and then. But the day I blogged this now, like now, is after been through alot of downs already...

Japan, a country I have always wanted to visit. I finally gotten a chance. To go with a group of really fun kakis I'm really comfortable with. However, till today, I didnt know if this was a good or bad thing I chose to tag along.

Anyway..

We headed to Niseko, Hokkaido in late December 2010. It was a freaking long journey. It was tiring and that got me a little short-tempered (lack of sleep) yet at the same time, enjoyable because it was just all so excited to land my feet on snow. Especially the Legendary powdery snow that Niesko is famous for.

There and then, I met a great couple. They didn't "force" me to get along with them immediately. I'm thankful they took it slow, just like I did. :)

It was thrilling. To see snow. In fact, to be exact, to actually see it snow-ing.

The apartment we had in Niseko was awesome! So great I couldn't bear to live. Or maybe, sometimes it's just the house mates that made the stay enjoyable.

We made breakfasts. We cooked.

And of course, I tried snowboarding for the first time. It was fun till the thought came into my mind. Me and my bestest friend had talked about learning it together since ages ago. Now that I went myself, I was actually feeling a little sad. But I have to admit I enjoyed.

The first day of boarding. It was bad for the first hour. There was this pressure as the group I went with are all experts. I was learning at the base till I flared up and headed back. It ended in a fight on snow. Back to the apartment, that was one of the best moment in the trip. We had a heart to heart talk. I then, decided to head back to snow. We did. And had the m.o.m.e.n.t.s. together. One of the member was still telling me it is really great that I hit back the snow and I felt totally encouraged.

The second day. I was actually on the gondola already, even though not knowing how the hell to board. HA. It was great.

Third day, things got even better. I was actually boarding alone the runs. Haha. Totally ignored any stares as I tumbled down the slopes man! I felt great to know I was improving. And had the snow crab pasta for lunch up high in the "mountain".

And we had the New Year countdown to 2011 on snow! It was freezing. But it was really nice to have all the right companions with you. It was memorable.

Last day of boarding was also amazing. It was just him and me. And before that, it was a walk to supermarket for purchase of food to self-cook in apartment,which was one of the other best moment for the trip. For snowboarding, went down twice on the same runs. On the expert run for a short distance. Awesome.

It was orignally planned to have two days on snow. But ended up 4 full days. Even though we only had 2-3hrs on snow for boarding these 4 days, it was precious and enjoyable. Of course, I am proud I snowboarded within the short time! :D

Check out this video of me on ski lift on the 3rd day:
Hilarous. Once, I went UNDER the lift, I got so embarrassed I'd rather stay at the base and freeze than do it again. HAHA

Me and the snowman just right outside our apartment::
The great companions and me!::
The amazing crowd on snow for the countdown::Myself learning (former) and actually already boarding (latter)!::

Sad thing is, I was using someone else's board. Someone. That someone.

Anyway, yea I do like snowboarding and I might just pick up this sport! :D Time to get my own gear :p

Then we headed back to Tokyo for some walk walk see see shop shop eat eat.

Didn't go to the onsen though.

Weather wasn't as cold as Niseko's minus 13 degree celsius but it was just as cold due to the strong wind. Boo.

And I spent SGD100+ to buy some pills where I could have bought in more quantity in Malaysia and better quality with just RM 3. Kill me, please. Not forgetting the many hours spent to search for the pills and wait for the purchase! URGH

My great companions again!::

I was there, in Tokyo!::Sushi. Everyday's meal::Favourite group picture of the trip!::Yeah!!However, these will stay as memories. Things have changed, quite a fair bit, since. It's a mystery if anything can be solved.
