Birthday Journey DAY FIVE

The fifth day of my solo trip, finally exploring the little town called Tomohon, and away from the underwater world...

James came pick me about 10am+ from my hotel. We headed straight to Chimo's rented room. Chimo wasn't at home, it was a working day. So we left our barang barang in Chimo's rented room and James brought me to a nearby eating place. Their traditional Manado Porridge.

Manado porridge is interesting. It basically means 3 different kinds of vegetables mixed into the porridge and cook. I think there was raw egg too. Born not a vegetarin, I had trouble finishing the entire bowl. No doubt it is nice, but too much vegetables somehow~

We went back Chimo's rented room and sat there chit chatting with some of the rest before we set off to Tomohon. Tomohon is up the mountain and it takes about 1.5hr ride up. Of course, we stopped somewhere for lunch.

Here I am! Right in front of James' cousin's house. It is the local thing that they dont lock their doors......

The laid back life of the locals, sometimes earning to lead like them, sometimes got irritated. After spending an hour or so in the house without the owners, we decided to bunk in with Kiki. Kiki stays nearby and he knows Japanese language much better than English! Haha. Kiki homestay, I called his place. :p

Few of them brought me to Linow Lake, which is about 30mins ride from the house. There I was::

Inhaling the strong pungent sulphuric smell.

And then they brought me to see "hot spring".. The spring that you can never soak yourself in. Sure get burnt! The "hot spring" were actually the craters of the volcano. The water is still boiling.. Think boiling 24-7!

Check out my shag face with the hot steam behind me::

Really curious trying to check what's inside giving out these steam...::And came the horror turth. In this entire village, there is no such thing as heater for shower! OMG. So they decided to bring me to visit this natural warm water shower. After being fascinated over their "hot spring"... we headed back home to grab our shower barangs.

The ride was about 1hr from home to little shower cubicles...

Wondering what's inside each cubicle?::

Looks eerie and old? Trust me, when you are so desperate wanting warm luke water for shower, this is, HEAVEN. The water is so natural you can drink as you shower. All I did was pray the light doesn't go off. It is VERY dark. That was the besst shower I ever had.

And it is NOT free! haha. Rp3,000/pax. Aiyo. It is natural water lor!

And dinner? Warm hot buns!

The locals love big pork buns! Hahaha... Me being halal, chewed on the bean bun. Not as good as those in Singapore, but I learnt not to be fussy when travelling all alone out there man~

Back to home, we jsut all chit chat, tried their local wine. They insisted I try. Smell and tasted alot like chinese tonic. Eewww, not my kind.

And I slept on a big big bed. Comfortable with two pillows, one bolster, and one big comforter. :D

Advantage of being a lady :p
