17th October 2007

A.

Guess where me and my family went.....?
Here::

Today, my brother got himself a wife..

I took a day's leave but woke pretty early in the morning. Brother and the wife too. 10am+ receive the hand bouquet that was delivered to my house for the wife. They left to SummerVille hotel to pick the in-laws to ROM.

Dad, mom and myself reached ROM at about 2pm. Finally saw the in-laws. Not as young as I thought they would be. Both are white haired. The dad has a friendly face but didnt talk much at all. The mom has a sulky face and was even more silent than the dad.

Don't even need to look at me, I got problem with speaking Hokkien. They cannot understand English nor speak fluent Mandarin, I'm totally speechless. I only smile smile.

Anyway, catch this, the bench at ROM::My brother getting ready::The booking time is actually 3.10pm but it's first-come-first-served basis so we went in at 2pm+!

This actually caught my sight, displayed outside the registry office::I took a long video inside and I think my photos were among the best, I was in a very good position compared to the other photographers..

Groom and Bride looking at the Marriage Cert in amusement::Then we head out to have photographs taken...

The two families::My family::After that, all of them headed to my place.

In the car, I realised my brother's wife's sister and friend were much much friendlier and more talkative than the wife. Pretty easy to communicate with them.

All were excited over photos and hid in my brother's room to do up the photos while the in-laws sat in the living room with the TV on. I seriously doubt they were watching or they can even understand what was shown on TV. Then before leaving for dinner, was told the wife's mom not feeling well, carsick. Kinda expected that would happen though, but there is nothing much we can help as hosts.

Thus, we then took a train instead of cab to Chinatown Point for dinner @ Mouth Restaurant. A HongKong restaurant that is opened 24 hours.

Say cheese~::When the first dish was served, silence filled the air. But my stomach is growling in hunger!! And please look at what was the first dish::Yesh~~!! Huge Prawns, how can I ever resist??? Cannot be mah..

I waited for the youngest in age to greet. She was silent. Then I thought as a host, I was the youngest in fact. So I greeted in Mandarin, "Everyone eat".. The wife's sister and friend seemed overjoyed immediately, they followed greeting cheerfully and loudly. As usual, the wife didnt greet, either that or her voice can only be heard within 30cm from her.

For the first half of the dinner, nonsense filled the table, dad and me and the two young ladies talked. Second half, I was sooo soooo tired after the food. LOL. So it was pretty quiet except occasionally I talked to my parents and the two young ladies talked to the just-wedded couple.

Thank you, Brother, for the yummy dinner!!! =D

I went home with my parents. The two young ladies went back themselves. My brother together with the wife, sent the in-laws back to the hotel.

What shocked me for the day was... While me and my parents were all sitting in the living room watching TV when brother and wife came back, the wife walked in straight to the room without greeting my parents at all. If she feels awkward calling them "mom" and "dad", I think she should at least greet them "auntie" and "uncle" even if she has not greeted them for a long while.. But its within the FIRST 24hrs of marriage!

I already strike out the possibility for her actions as just being shy. Probably she still young mentally, but respect and basic humanly behavior is still needed especially in front of my presence. I dread housework so much, yet I always help out at my bf's.

Anyway, it's good to see my brother found his loved one.. Now, I would expect my relatives to arrow me, "when is your turn?" Urgh.
